In my Landscape Series, I explore ways in which identity is shaped by one’s relationship with a particular geography and reflect the process of striving to feel at home. The connection one feels to place is an abstract notion, often expressed with regard to memories, habits, and experiences. I use visual elements from cultural myths and stories, local textile patterns, native plants and animals and create imaginary ecosystems where typically unrelated matter co-exist in harmony. Central to my work is a quest for rootedness, search for a shared history and a pursuit to establish a sense of belonging.
